Sometimes I buy a book of which I know nothing just because
I really like the author and I know I'm getting to go on an adventure when I
read the book. Namer of Beasts, Maker of Souls was a grand adventure.
Had I read the fine print first (which I didn't) I would
have known this was a book about Merlin, instead, I got to read the book and
discover it all on my own.
This is the most interesting and fun Arthurian read I've had
in years. Perhaps because it really wasn't about Arthur?
Ms. Salmonson is not only widely read, but quite
intelligent, and it shows in her writing. This story drew on many traditional
sources, and others that may not be that traditional or well known to the
general reader. It is a "kabbalistic interpretation" of Merlin's
life.
If you're a fan of Arthuriana, and want something a lot more
interesting than the regular stuff, this is the story for you. Honest. Trust
me.
Sounds like one both Elm & I would enjoy. Love the title. However, I was disappointed - thought this was another of your works.
